Weekend Market

The Weekend Market or the Sunday Market as the locals call it starts as early as Saturday afternoon and throughout the night. Today, alongside the farmers and gatherers, urban folks are setting up hawker stores as well. This market place has always been popular for its wide array of local fruits and vegetables collected from the jungles and sold by Bidayuh ladies who come all the way from their rural home.

The rural folks will camp overnight in order to continue their trade over the weekend. Produce are spread on canvas or mat placed on the floor and sometimes with colorful umbrellas shielding them from the sun. Here, you can also find local handicrafts, forest products - including delicious wild honey and the famous local ferns "midin", orchid plants, live fish and whole range of local snacks and delicacies. The weekend market is an experience not to be missed!
